The body of journalist Ovisruti Shastri, who died in Bailey Road fire incident in the capital on February 29 has not been handed over to the family. It is known that the body will not be handed over without a DNA test due to the confusion over her identity.
Ovisruti Shastri is a former Multimedia Reporter of the online news portal TheReport.live. After her death, identity complications came to the fore in the process of handing over the body. So a DNA test will be conducted.
In her birth certificate and national identify card the name "Bristi Khatun" is mentioned but, the CV she has provided for employment purpose has the name "Ovisruti Shastri". In these documents her father`s name is Md Shabrul Alam and her mother`s name is Beuti Begum. However, in her CV her mother`s name is mentioned as " Aparna Shastri".
Ovisruti Shastri was a student of philosophy at Eden Women`s College, Dhaka. Along with her studies, she was engaged in the profession of journalism.
She was involved as a reporter of election commission beat of the 12th national parliament from TheReport.live. She was working as a multimedia journalist at this organisation till January 2024.
